SRMC Wound Care Clinical Trial     02-02-2010

The Sutter Roseville Wound Care Center is recruiting patients suffering from leg ulcers for an international clinical study being conducted in 42 centers throughout the United States and other countries.

Ray Bayati, M.D., and study sponsor Advanced Bio-Healing (ABH), Inc., are studying the safety and effectiveness of Dermagraft® in healing leg ulcers.

Skin Substitutes or tissue engineered applications are among the most advanced methods of treatment for leg ulcers. Dermagraft® is one of those tissue engineered applications. It consists of living human skin cells grown onto a bioabsorbable mesh. As the cells grow, natural human skin proteins are produced to form living tissue. Dermagraft® is currently approved by FDA and utilized in patients with diabetic foot ulcers.

    Who can participate?

Anyone with leg ulcers could potentially participate in the study if venous insufficiency plays a role in the ulcer. If an individual qualifies for the study he/ she will be fully informed about the study and asked if willing to participate.

The study will take place at the Wound Care Clinic, housed at Sutter Roseville Medical Center. For more information about the Wound Care Clinic or the Dermagraft® study, call 916- 781-1386.
