Safe Kids Placer County

The mission of Safe Kids Placer County is to prevent accidental childhood injury, a leading killer of children 14 and under. By uniting individuals and community organizations concerned with children's safety, the Coalition develops educational programs, initiates public policy changes and increases community awareness.

Unintentional injury is the leading cause of death among children ages 14 and under in the United States. Each year approximately 6,000 children die and 120,000 children are permanently disabled from unintentional injuries. One out of every four children, or more than 14 million children ages 14 and under, sustains injuries that are serious enough to require medical attention each year.

In Placer County, as across the nation, children are primarily at risk of intentional injury from:
  • Motor vehicle injuries

  • Bicycle, skateboard, scooter and roller skate injuries

  • Pedestrian injuries

  • Falls

  • Fire and Burns

  • Suffocation

  • Choking

  • Unintentional fire arm injuries

  • Poisoning

  • Drowning

Safe Kids Placer County and Sutter Roseville Medical Center are committed to preventing these kinds of injuries and deaths in our community.
